बी0 एस0 के0 महाविद्यालय मैथन में राजनीति विज्ञान विषय की पढ़ाई इसकी स्थापना के साथ ही शुरू हुई। इस विषय में छात्र-छात्राओं की रूचि अधिक होने के कारण महाविद्यालय में विषय के विद्यार्थियों की संख्या अधिक है। राजनीति विज्ञान अध्ययन का एक विस्तृत विषय क्षेत्र है। राजनीति विज्ञान में यह तमाम बातें शामिल है:- राजनीतिक चिंतन, राजनीतिक सिद्धांत, राजनीतिक दर्शन, राजनीतिक विचारधारा, संस्थागत या संरचनात्मक ढांचा, तुलनात्मक राजनीति, लोक-प्रशासन, अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून और संगठन आदि इन सभी बिंदुओं की पढ़ाई महाविद्यालय में कराई जाती है। ताकि छात्र-छात्राएं स्नातक की डिग्री प्राप्त कर प्रशासनिक एवं सामाजिक क्षेत्रों में प्रशंसनीय कार्य कर सकें।
