The Department of Commerce of BSK College is one of the oldest and most popular departments of studies, established within two years of college being set up. From the very beginning, the department has been steered by stalwarts, many of whom have in time headed college as principal and the university administration as PG heads and Deans. Maithon, being one of main centers of DVC and located in vicinity of industrial-mining area of Dhanbad and also being located at Jharkhand-Bengal border, attracts a large no. of students to Commerce stream both from Jharkhand and West Bengal. The department offers degrees of B Com (Honours) and B Com (General) with well-structured syllabi. The department has acted as PG center for Commerce for VBU , Hazaribagh for approximately 12 years in the past .The sanctioned strength of faculty is 08, but it is presently operating with 03 teachers. The students of the department regularly participate in extracurricular activities. The department also regularly organizes Seminars, sports meets, group discussions etc. The department has produced, over the years, countless luminaries in various fields of academia, Chartered Accountancy , administration, law and business .

Dr Leena Singh has been teaching in department of Commerce in B S K
College since 2008 .She has contributed more than 20 articles on
various aspects of Indian economy , Commerce , Infrastructure ,
Entrepreneurship etc in various national and international journals and
conferences .She is also author of one book and contributor to two
books .She is also a life member of Indian Commerce Association. She
takes deep interest in organising socio cultural activities for students ."
The Department of Commerce Organised a Seminar on 06.03.20 on the topic of “National Agricultural Policy Of India”. It was attended by large no. of students of the college. The Seminar was marked by a meaningful exchange of Ideas between the faculty, participants and students.
